Hurt my knee Friday night and got an MRI appointment Sunday evening (booked Sunday afternoon). Waited about 2 minutes and was done in just over 30 minutes. The team was amazing, friendly and efficient.

Dr. Osama's team was gentle and amazing. After a bad experience elsewhere, my pelvic exam here was much more professional. Great report and very precise.

Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death globally and in the UAE, where lifestyle factors including sedentary habits, high-fat diets, and rising obesity rates contribute to widespread dyslipidemia. The lipid profile, also called a cholesterol panel or lipid panel, is the gold-standard screening tool for assessing your risk of heart attack, stroke, and peripheral artery disease. At DCDC in Dubai Healthcare City, our MOHAP-licensed laboratory delivers precise lipid measurements using advanced clinical chemistry analyzers, providing your doctor with the data needed to make informed decisions about prevention and treatment.
A standard lipid profile measures four key markers: total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein, often called "bad" cholesterol because it deposits in artery walls), HDL cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein, the "good" cholesterol that removes excess cholesterol from arteries), and triglycerides (a type of fat stored in your blood that contributes to atherosclerosis at high levels). From these four measurements, additional ratios and calculations are derived, including the total cholesterol to HDL ratio, non-HDL cholesterol, and an estimated LDL using the Friedewald equation. Together, these values paint a comprehensive picture of your cardiovascular lipid risk.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Lipid Profile Test in Dubai.
A lipid profile measures four primary markers: total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol (the atherogenic particle depositing in artery walls), HDL cholesterol (the protective particle removing excess cholesterol), and triglycerides. Additional calculated values include total cholesterol to HDL ratio and non-HDL cholesterol.
Fasting for 9-12 hours is recommended for precise triglyceride measurement, as triglycerides spike significantly after meals. However, LDL and HDL are minimally affected by food (less than 2 percent change), so non-fasting samples are acceptable for initial screening.
Total cholesterol ideally below 5.2 mmol/L (200 mg/dL). LDL targets depend on risk: below 3.4 for low-risk, below 2.6 for moderate, below 1.8 for high-risk (existing CVD or diabetes).
LDL is the primary driver of atherosclerosis. Excess LDL particles penetrate artery walls, become oxidized, trigger inflammation, and form plaques that narrow arteries and can rupture to cause heart attacks and strokes.
HDL performs reverse cholesterol transport, collecting excess cholesterol from arteries and returning it to the liver. Raise HDL through regular aerobic exercise (increases 5-10 percent), weight loss, replacing saturated fats with monounsaturated fats (olive oil, nuts, avocados), smoking cessation (increases 5-10 percent), and moderate alcohol consumption.
