For skin prick testing, you must stop antihistamines five to seven days before testing as they suppress skin reactions and can produce false negative results. Common antihistamines include cetirizine, loratadine, and fexofenadine. Continue other medications unless your doctor advises otherwise. Blood-based IgE tests are not affected by antihistamines, so no medication changes are needed.
