Essentially, every test available in our DHCC lab can be collected at home.

Routine panels such as CBC, metabolic panels, lipid profiles, thyroid function, and vitamin levels are typically reported the same day for samples collected before midday, and within 24 hours for afternoon collections. Specialised tests including hormone panels, allergy profiles, tumour markers, and autoimmune screens may take 48 to 72 hours depending on the assay. Microbiological cultures typically require 3 to 5 days for incubation. Critical values such as severely abnormal glucose, potassium, or haemoglobin are flagged and communicated immediately by phone.

Some tests require fasting for accurate results. A lipid panel (cholesterol and triglycerides) requires 9 to 12 hours of fasting. Fasting glucose and insulin tests also require an overnight fast. A comprehensive metabolic panel is most accurate when fasting. Tests like CBC, thyroid function, vitamin D, B12, HbA1c, hormones, and tumour markers do not require fasting. Our team confirms fasting requirements based on your specific test order when you book, and we offer early morning collection slots to make fasting tests convenient.

Our technicians collect all common specimen types at home. This includes venous blood draws (the most common), capillary blood samples for specific assays, mid-stream urine samples, stool specimens with collection containers provided in advance, throat swabs, nasal swabs, wound swabs, and sputum samples. For urine and stool collections, we provide sterile containers with clear instructions before the appointment. Our phlebotomists are also trained in paediatric blood collection techniques for children.

Yes. Our home collection service uses the exact same sterile collection techniques, vacuum-sealed tubes, and temperature-controlled transport protocols as our walk-in DHCC laboratory. Samples are processed on the same accredited analysers with identical quality controls and calibration standards. Barcode tracking ensures specimen integrity from collection to reporting. The only difference is where the sample is drawn. Our laboratory holds MOHAP accreditation and follows international quality standards for every test.

Yes, many routine lab tests can be ordered directly without a physician referral. You can request common panels including CBC, lipid profile, vitamin levels, thyroid function, liver and kidney function, and general health screenings. Some specialised tests and certain insurance policies may require a doctor's prescription. If you need a referral, our doctor on call service can provide a home consultation and order the appropriate tests during the same visit or beforehand.
