Understanding Diabetes: Types and Symptoms
Diabetes is a long-term condition that affects how your body regulates blood sugar (glucose) levels. When not properly managed, it can lead to serious health complications. At Doctors Clinic Diagnostic Center (DCDC), Dubai, our specialists provide accurate diagnosis, effective management, and personalized treatment for all types of diabetes.
Types of Diabetes
1. Type 1 Diabetes
An autoimmune condition where the immune system destroys insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. It often develops in childhood or early adulthood and requires lifelong insulin therapy.
2. Type 2 Diabetes
The most common type of diabetes, usually occurring in adults. It develops when the body becomes resistant to insulin or doesn’t produce enough. Lifestyle changes, medication, and regular monitoring can help manage it effectively.
3. Gestational Diabetes
Occurs during pregnancy and typically resolves after delivery. However, women who experience it are at higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life.
